Watermill Hill Hides
I hope you enjoy my wildlife musings and photography.
From the sanctuary of my studio to the great outdoors my journey of discovery and love of nature photography has begun.
I’ve been a photographer for almost all of my adult life shooting everything from weddings and portraits to politicians and film stars learning my trade in the days of film and darkroom before moving seamlessly into the digital era. From the beginning of the noughties to the early twenties I was almost exclusively based in the studio shooting boudoir and glamour – studio flash only, no daylight!
Following a decision to make a big lifestyle change my wife Zena and I and our dog Ziggy moved from suburban Berkshire to rural West Wales where I found myself hankering for a more outdoor lifestyle. Within three years of the move I found myself driven to “retire” from studio life and begin learning the new skills required for wildlife photography. This despite having built a purposely designed sixty square meter studio for my boudoir business.
I am now blessed to live in a converted stone barn and own four and half acres of meadows, more beech trees than I care to count, a large wildlife pond and more, all of which seems to attract a wide variety of wildlife. Whilst some of the land has been tamed into usable garden space, albeit of a very non formal nature, much has been left to nature. It is my intention to capture the wildlife living here if it will let me and that of the surrounding countryside, coastal paths and nearby Cambrian mountains.
